Bring your own database (BYODB)
For organizations with data residency, sovereignty, or compliance requirements that mandate in-house infrastructure, Aletheia connects to a PostgreSQL database you provision in your own environment. Your data never leaves your cloud account. Aletheia's application layer connects to your database over an encrypted connection, and your IT team retains full control over database access, backups, encryption, and audit.

Frequently asked questions
Can we start with managed hosting and move to BYODB later?
Yes. If your organization's requirements evolve, we coordinate a migration to your in-house environment with you. The underlying data model is identical between deployment modes, so your RCFAs, users, sites, and configuration move with you.
Is there a price difference between managed and BYODB?
Platform pricing is based on the size of your organization and your use case, not on which deployment mode you choose. BYODB customers separately incur the infrastructure costs of operating their own PostgreSQL environment.
Who is responsible for database backups under BYODB?
Your IT team. Under BYODB, Aletheia connects to a database you provision and operate. Backup, recovery, patching, and uptime are governed by your internal policies and your cloud provider's tooling. Under managed hosting, Aletheia handles all of this on your behalf.
